For me he was a coach, a committed community member, teacher of strategic play and an example of how to behave as a man. He passed on his love of sport and competitiveness to me and so many others and always seemed genuinely happy to see me. Always engaged in the moment. Gordy, as many of the kids he coached respectfully called him, remembered events of my younger days that I had forgotten. He made you feel like you mattered. He was a larger than life character of my youth and I have forgotten. He made you feel like you mattered. Peace to him and his family.

Was at Lafleur's Golf course for Wednesday Night League - Gordie got a hole-in-one. With his touch of class put a pitcher on every table in the club house - and we celebrated. That and his position standing at the corner glass at Maple Arena are a couple of my personal memories of Gord. Condolences to the family and the community.
