Colleen (Edgell) Dewey passed away Monday, December 5th, 2016 at the age of 55. She was born July 22nd, 1961 in Verdun, Quebec the daughter of Paul and Laureen Edgell.

Colleen is survived by her Husband Earl, her two sons Corey, Jordan their spouses Marie-Eve and Caroline, as well as her Grandson Theodore. Chateauguay became home for the family in 1993 where their house served as a local hangout for all the neighborhood children and a place where everyone knew they could see her beautiful smile, and they were always welcome.

on Saturday, December 10th, from 6 to 9 pm, and on Sunday, December 11th, from 11 am to 1 pm.  A commemorative service will then follow at 1 pm in the Chapel of the parlor.

Growing up in Verdun Colleen had two brothers, Michael and Paul. Colleen’s mother passed away when she was very young, and she was raised by her loving father, something that solidified her desire to be the best Mother and wife imaginable. Growing up in Verdun and Lasalle she attended the Catholic high schools in each city, where she made lifelong friends and memories.

Colleen was amazingly empathetic and genuinely concerned about the happiness of everyone she encountered. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family, and doing everything she could for family. The last two and a half years of Colleen’s life she shared with her Grandson Theodore, who quickly became the center of her world.

Although she is no longer with us in person, her spirit of kindness and love will be in our hearts forever.

In her memory, donations can be made to the Cedars Cancer Foundation.

I met Colleen at the bus stop. We were neighbors and took the bus downtown for years. She was a very warm and friendly person. How could we know that when you left for your doctor's appointment, we would never have to pleasure of exchanging pleasantries or a dirty joke again. We became colleagues 3 years ago, and Colleen was very helpful and friendly to the newbies in the Department. She was always ready to help and happy to provide assistance whenever we needed it. I have fond memories of our lunchtimes spent together. I hope Earl, the boys (their loves) and little Theodore will be able to replace their sadness by fond memories of her smile, vivacity and the great human being that she was. I had the privilege of knowing Colleen several years ago working at McGill. I remember one of the longest conversations we had-she had just returned to the workforce after being a stay at home mum, supporting her son's passion for hockey. She always beamed with pride whenever she talked about her boys. Colleen was kind, helpful and always had a smile on her face. It truly saddens me that she is no longer with us. Colleen was a special girlfriend with such loving qualities. Loving Colleen was easy, she was always welcoming, understanding, a listener, compassionate of others and she loved to laugh. She enjoyed the simple things in life. The leaves falling in the fall, the beauty of a first snow fall. She loved to go out on the boat and enjoyed the sunshine on the water. She loved making a simple grill cheese for the kids and the neighbour?s kids. Friendship, friendship is a beautiful gift and the biggest gift I ever received from Colleen was her friendship. I was never afraid to share my deepest secrets with Colleen I trusted her heart and she was never judgemental. Our true friendship took strength and we had it all; love, understanding and strength. She always asked about everyone when we were on a phone together. She always asked about the kids and David. I will miss my girlfriend so much her voice her smile and her company. With heartfelt sympathy I write this note. I was saddened to hear the news from Jodi that Colleen had passed away. It made me think of that Saturday morning, the day I was leaving to return to the Congo, when I asked Jodi to see if we could stop by and visit you both. When we remember Colleen we think of what an amazing woman she was and that were very privileged to have known her.
