Here is the obituary for

FURLONG, Sandra
2021-08-17

1944-2021

It is with great sadness that we announce that Sandra Furlong passed away peacefully, on August 17, 2021 at the age of 76, after a lengthy illness.

Sandra was born on January 4, 1944 in Montreal, the third and youngest child, of Gerald P Furlong and Violet Caney. She graduated from Villa Maria and subsequently Notre-Dame Secretarial College “The Mother House”, as was the tradition for refined, career oriented young ladies at that time. She had some success in the corporate world before stepping away happily to raise a family.

Sandra relocated to Chateauguay where she made a great home life for her family and as her family matured, she pursued interests as a volunteer for both civic and political organizations. Eventually she relocated to Oshawa, Ontario for an opportunity with a local newspaper where she crafted a career for over ten years, during which time she also continued to pursue personal writing, and was a published poet and short story author. When she retired from professional life, she returned to her family in Chateauguay. She gave generously of her time and enjoyed socializing.

Sandra is very deeply missed and remembered by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

Sandra is predeceased by her parents, Gerald P Furlong and Violet Caney; her brother, Gerald Furlong; and her sister Rita Furlong Cipriani and brother-in-law Luigi (Gino) Cipriani.

Sandra is survived by her son Richard Cipriani, and daughter-in-law Erin Henson; by her son Stephen Cipriani, and daughter-in-law Tanya Schwartz, and granddaughter Issabella Schwartz Cipriani; by her brother-in-law Aldo Cipriani, and sister-in-law Carmen Lipartiti Cipriani. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and their children, and a large extended family.

A graveside service and interment will be held at the Notre Dame des Neiges Cemetery, 4601 Cotes-des-Neiges, in Montreal at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
