DEWEY (EDGELL), Colleen
2016-12-05
Colleen (Edgell) Dewey passed away Monday, December 5th, 2016 at the age of 55. She was born July 22nd, 1961 in Verdun, Quebec the daughter of Paul and Laureen Edgell.
Colleen is survived by her Husband Earl, her two sons Corey, Jordan their spouses Marie-Eve and Caroline, as well as her Grandson Theodore. Chateauguay became home for the family in 1993 where their house served as a local hangout for all the neighborhood children and a place where everyone knew they could see her beautiful smile, and they were always welcome.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral parlor:
Alexandre Nicole
Complexe Funéraire Châteauguay
96 boul. St-Jean-Baptiste,
Châteauguay, QC J6K3A6
450-699-9919
on Saturday, December 10th, from 6 to 9 pm, and on Sunday, December 11th, from 11 am to 1 pm. A commemorative service will then follow at 1 pm in the Chapel of the parlor.
Growing up in Verdun Colleen had two brothers, Michael and Paul. Colleen’s mother passed away when she was very young, and she was raised by her loving father, something that solidified her desire to be the best Mother and wife imaginable. Growing up in Verdun and Lasalle she attended the Catholic high schools in each city, where she made lifelong friends and memories.
Colleen was amazingly empathetic and genuinely concerned about the happiness of everyone she encountered. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family, and doing everything she could for family. The last two and a half years of Colleen’s life she shared with her Grandson Theodore, who quickly became the center of her world.
Although she is no longer with us in person, her spirit of kindness and love will be in our hearts forever.
In her memory, donations can be made to the Cedars Cancer Foundation.

I met Colleen at the bus stop. We were neighbors and took the bus downtown for years. She was a very warm and friendly person. Very caring and she was so proud of her boys and overjoyed when her grandson came along. Colleen was a strong woman and I admire her courage. My sincere condolences to her family. May she contine smiling upon you from the heavens above .

How could we know that when you left for your doctor's appointment, we would never have to pleasure of exchanging pleasantries or a dirty joke again. We became colleagues 3 years ago, and Colleen was very helpful and friendly to the newbies in the Department. She was always ready to help and happy to provide assistance whenever we needed it. I have fond memories of our lunchtimes spent together. I hope Earl, the boys (their loves) and little Theodore will be able to replace their sadness by fond memories of her smile, vivacity and the great human being that she was. I have been missing her every day and will miss her forever more.

I had the privilege of knowing Colleen several years ago working at McGill. I remember one of the longest conversations we had-she had just returned to the workforce after being a stay at home mum, supporting her son's passion for hockey. She always beamed with pride whenever she talked about her boys. Colleen was kind, helpful and always had a smile on her face. It truly saddens me that she is no longer with us. May you rest in peace, Colleen. My deepest condolences to her family, friends, and loved ones.

Six years ago we moved to Chateauguay and are so fortunate to have had Colleen and Earl as neighbours. Already knew Colleen from McGill but as neighbours we become close friends, enjoying many summer days in the backyard (and some winter ones). We loved her sense of humour and her laughter, we will miss you so much Colleen. Earl, Corey, Jordan and family, you are in our thoughts and prayers. Cindy, Mark and Nicholas.

I had the pleasure of working for several years with Colleen at McGill. My most vivid memories of Colleen are her love for her family, her smile and laughter and humour, and her always upbeat mood. Her wonderful spirit brought joy to her co-workers and colleagues. My sympathy goes to Earl and the family. I am sure their good memories of such a loving person will help them through this difficult time.

With heartfelt sympathy I write this note. I was saddened to hear the news from Jodi that Colleen had passed away. It made me think of that Saturday morning, the day I was leaving to return to the Congo, when I asked Jodi to see if we could stop by and visit you both. We are both so grateful that Colleen was up for the visit and we got to spend an hour with both of you. When we remember Colleen we think of what an amazing woman she was and that were very privileged to have known her. She will be greatly missed but we hope all who knew her can find comfort in the fun memories we have, those special moments in which she either made us laugh or of her genuine laughter. It saddens me Earl that I cannot be there, I know you will be surrounded by family and friends to help you though the tough times. Please know that Jodi and I are there for you as well. I will leave you with something someone once told me ? ?When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure?. Jodi & Joe
